INTRODUCTORY TEXT TO THE LESSON
This e-lesson was recorded in the region of Romeu, located in North East Portugal. The main learning objectives of this resource are:
- To relate the dynamic balance of ecosystems to the sustainability of planet Earth.
- To identify the phases of a primary ecological succession (pioneer community, intermediate and climax).
- To identify pioneer species.
- To identify the type of ecological succession (primary and secondary).
- To analyse potential impacts on ecosystems resulting from disturbance phenomena of natural or anthropogenic origin and introduce the concepts of species extinction and conservation.
