INTRODUCTORY TEXT TO THE LESSON
Integrated Geography and Biology lesson was prepared while developing Erasmus+KA2 international project's "E-Learning from Nature" outcomes. In real lesson was organized in Varnikai Botanical-Zoological Reserve, Trakai Historical National Park. Teacher from Trakai Vytautas Magnus Gymnasium Sigita ZalitienÄ— present the lesson outside.
Learning objective: having identified the typical vegetation of fens, to perform a biological examination of sundew and sphagnum and to describe their growth conditions.
Three groups of students examined bog conditions in which vegetation of fens grow.
Students also performed a biological examination of sundew and sphagnum moss.
Having performed microscopy of a sphagnum twig cell, students calculated how much water can be absorbed by a dry sphagnum moss.
