BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ORGANISATION
CVO HIK is one of the bigest adult education centres in Flanders with 350 teachers/ lecturers and more then 6000 adult students (more then 1000000 hours/learner a year). CVO HIK is located in a rural area. We offer higher education and secondary education in various fields. Higher education: teacher training, higher professional education (HBO 5= 120 credits) for social studies, remedial education, economical studies, language assistant, electro mechanics, informatics, tourism and guidance. Secondary education: we offer a large scale of courses going from languages over welding, cooking, software packages, digital photography, bike repair, wine and beer tasting etc… We offer high quality education to mostly younger adults (average age 35) but we have also a lot of hobby oriented elderly learners who follow courses. Another segment are the courses on demand that we provide for companies and for the office of employment, we are offering special courses on remedial education, PLC, electro-mechanics for unemployed people to get a diploma of associate degree.
We are linked and/ or associated to the university college Thomas More Kempen (we share the same building), to the university of Leuven (School of Education is an experti network of 22 teacher training centres under guidance of KU Leuven), and to Erasmus ECHO, a Flemish network to disseminate and implement outcomes of international projects ( we are co-founder of this network enclosing Ghent, Brussels, Antwerp, Geel). We have privileged contacts with KOGEKA, a secondary school in Geel where a lot of our teacher students do their internships. We are also member of PKI (Plan Kempen International). This is an organization within the chamber if commerce, to promote languages and entrepreneurship at international level.
Through these networks, we have very good contacts with the labor market and organize (international) internships. Our experise on the use of a learning management system to stimulate flexible learning paths for learners is a trump card. We offer individualized training programmes for certain target groups, to close the gap with the labor market, to enable the integration of the newest pedagogical methods to be fruitful for our learners. We work competence oriented and stimulate the implementation of the required competences in the modular structure of the curriculum.
We have expertise in the training of teachers & in blended learning courses in serval departaments (Social work, ICT, teacher training, Economics...).
We have a tradition in European projects (Grundtvig- Leonardo VETPRO, PLM, partnerships- Daphne) as coordinator and participant.
HOW THE ORGANISATION WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE DISSEMINATION AND EXPLOITATION OF THE PROJECT RESULTS
• Exchange of experience and expertise during and after the project
- During meetings with colleagues and teachers events, the project activities will be a fixed subject on the agenda: explanation on the ongoing process, linking with existing experience in our team/ region/ network.
