Chapter 3 – Software tools
3.2 Prezi
Prezi is a visual storytelling software, and it is an alternative to traditional slide-based presentation formats. Prezi presentations, also called "prezis", feature a map-like, schematic overview that lets users pan between topics at will, zoom in on desired details, and pull back to reveal context. This freedom of movement enables “conversational presenting,” a new presentation style in which presentations follow the flow of dialogue, instead of vice-versa. Prezi can be used by teachers and students to collaborate on presentations with multiple users able to access and edit the same presentation, and to allow students to construct and present their knowledge in different learning styles. The product is also being used in e-learning and edutainment. There are several versions of Prezi. The most suitable for educational use is the online/offline ZUI (zooming user interface) editors. There is also a desktop version of Prezi, but it requires a subscription to the service.
