INTRODUCTORY TEXT TO THE LESSON Learning Objectives: to determine different kinds of sand pollutants and the amount of them on the sand beaches of the Baltic sea in Smiltyne.
Children devided into groups spread on the beach of Smiltyne and in 30 minutes period collected different litter. Then they determined micro, mezo and micro litter. Toxic pollutants in water and sand can cause different deseases, kill sea flora, fishes. There were ascertained that in Smiltynė macro pollutants dominated as they made up 76 per cent of all litter (plastic bags). Foil things made up only 5 per cent, rubber items appear rarely; from micro litter the most occurred cigarettes and small things made of paper.
