TITLE OF THE E-LESSON
E-learning from Nature: micrometeorites and the Devil's Bit
COUNTRY
Ireland
INTRODUCTORY TEXT TO THE LESSON
In this lesson the teacher and students used their study of the Devil's Bit as the trigger to talk about Space Science.

As part of their research of the geographical area, they found iron particles which they believe to have been from meteor sources. The students researched this possibility and then created a model to demonstrate how the meteorites could have become trapped in the soil.

They are shown carrying out separation using magnets, and also analysis by mass.

The short video ends with an explanation of the difference between the terms 'meteor' and 'meteorite'.
