INTRODUCTORY TEXT TO THE LESSON This e-lesson describes a visit to the Miranda do Douro hydroelectric power station, one of the 8 dams located along Douro river, in Portugal. During the film, a brief analysis of the various constituent elements of the dam and their characterization and functioning is shown.
The main learning objectives are:
- to identify the natural resources which are used in energy production.
- to list and analyse the different sources of energy (both renewable and non-renewable).
- to be aware of the social impact caused by the lack of natural energetic sources; in this way, students will be motivated to value the use of clean or alternative energies.
