INTRODUCTORY TEXT TO THE LESSON This e-lesson presents a study visit to the region of Miranda do Douro, in the north-east of Portugal, including the city of Miranda do Douro and a neighboring village. Traditional examples of the use of solar energy in buildings are presented, making a conection with some aspects of the rural life of the populations of this region.
The main learning objectives are:
- Recognize the importance of the sun as a renewable and inexhaustible energy resource.
- Characterize the climate of the region, highlighting the great annual thermal amplitudes.
- Relate the characteristics of traditional buildings with the use of solar energy and the improvement of thermal comfort of buildings.
