INTRODUCTORY TEXT TO THE LESSON Chemistry lesson was prepared while developing Erasmus+KA2 international project’s “E-Learning from Nature” outcomes. The lesson organized in the park, located near river Neris in Vilijampole, Kaunas city. It is the urban area affected by several kinds of water pollution. The lesson encouraged to explore the water chemical composition and draw the conclusions about the level of water pollution.
The teacher from Kaunas Jonas and Petras Vileisiai school – multifunctional centre Rita Gusarovienė presented the lecture.
Learning objectives: explore the water chemical composition and draw the conclusions about the level of water pollution.
The teacher and students visited the park nearby river Neris. They discussed possible sources of water pollution and did chemistry experimental work aimed to determine the level of water pollution. They found a very small amount of chloride, nitrate and ammonium ions in Neris water. The water is soft and low acidic. I is not as polluted as could be expected.
